PREVALENCE GERIATRIC DEPRESSION IN GERIATRIC AT DHARMA BAKTI SENIOR CITIZEN NURSING HOME KM 7 PALEMBANG

Depression is one from the biggest four psichiatric disease in geriatric and need complete attention. Prevalence deperession in individu who’s older than 65 years old in Primer Health Service dan senior citizen nursing home is 5-17%.
The objectives of this study were to determine prevalence geriatric depression in geriatric at Dharma Bakti Senior Citizen Nursing Home Km 7 Palembang.
This study was a descriptive survey. The population were all of geriatric at Dharma Bakti Senior Citizen Nursing Home Km 7 Palembang. The sample were all of the population who met the inclusion criteria. Sample numbered 50 geriatrics. Data were collected by in-depth interview with geriatric in senior citizen nursing home. Sociodemographic question and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) were given to the sample.
The result of this study show that 30% geriatric in Dharma Bakti senior citizen nursing home has depression, 6,7% severe depression, 20% moderate depession and 73,3% mild depression. Also, depression risk factor like sex, age, educational level and marital status have inlfluence in the result.
The conclusion of the study are geriatric depression most often found in female sex, old age category, had educational level in elementary and widow.
